The Caldwell Rains Collection offers a rare and intimate window into Africa from 1913 through the First World War. Captured by my great-great-grandfather and passed down through generations, this collection reveals a raw and unfiltered glimpse of life in East Africa during a transformative era. Like my great-great-grandfather and great-grandfather before me, I, too, have lived in Africa and carry with me a deep connection to the land and its people. Though often called the "dark continent," Africa is, for me and my family, a place of profound light—a part of this world that continues to hold a piece of my heart.
